The advancement in socio-economy in Malaysia has seen changes to its people’s lifestyle. Obesity and diseases are appearing in younger population resulting in the need for people to indulge in sports or exercises to stay fit and healthy. Studies showed that there was correlation between body fat percentage and aerobic capacity among children. However little was known regarding the correlation among Chinese primary school children in Malaysia. Therefore, this study aims to determine the percentage of body fat and aerobic capacity among upper primary Chinese school children in Kajang. Besides that this study also aims to see whether there were correlation between body fat percentage and aerobic capacity among Chinese school children based on gender. The number of subjects chosen for this study were 240 students; consisting of Year 4 and Year 5 students (boys=120, girls=120). The body fat percentage was determined using skinfold method at two sites namely; triceps and calf. The same subjects were then required to perform the PACER bleep test to determine their estimated level of aerobic capacity. Results show that there was significant different in aerobic capacity by gender (t=1.35, p<0.18). Boys were found to be more superior intern of aerobic capacity as compared to the girls. Higher body fat percentage was reported among the boys as compared to the girls. Correlation test showed low level of relationship between body fat and aerobic capacity (r=-0.28, p<0.01) among the children. In conclusion, obesity was present in this age group confirming the need to exercise to stay fit and healthy.
