3. List several things that plants and protists have in common?

Have a nucleus, they are both multicellular and can undergo photosynthesis

4. What are some differences between animals and plants?

Animals can move while plants do not. Animals undergo cell respiration and plant cells undergo cell respiration and photosynthesis.

5. What are some differences between protists and bacteria?

Protists can be multicellular or unicellular while bacteria are only unicellular. Protists have a nucleus while bacteria do not have a nucleus. Protists are eukaryotic while bacteria are eukaryotic. Protists belong to the domain Eukarya while bacteria can belong to the domains Archaea or Bacteria. Protists can live in environments that have water while bacteria live in dry environments.

6. Which kingdoms can reproduce both sexually and asexually?

7. Which 2 kingdoms contain species that can break down rock and

other inorganic material?

Kingdoms Archaea and Eubacteria

11. Explain the endosymbiotic theory and how it relates to the

complexity of the cell.

According to the Endosymbiotic theory, eukaryotic cells came to exist because prokaryotic cells surrounded and incorporated bacteria. These bacteria eventually became organelles. The scientific explanation of cell complexity concerning Endosymbiotic theory is also likely to reveal that organelles in eukaryotic cells are genetically similar to species of Archaea.
