Oakfield Inpatient psychiatric Unit, Chorley Hospital

The type of work to expect and learning opportunities

Admission clerking, mental state and physical examinations, monitoring mental state for acute psychiatry patients, working with MDT, treatment & care planning, learning about prescribing in psychiatry, attend MDT reviews/ ward reviews, aspects of Mental Health and Capacity act- as applicable.

Inpatient wards in Oakfield unit

Clinical Supervisor(s) for the placement

Dr. B. Naguib, Consultant psychiatrist

Main duties of the placement

Admission clerking, mental state and physical examinations, monitoring mental state for acute psychiatry patients, working with MDT, treatment & care planning, attend MDT reviews/ ward reviews. All the above under supervision of Clinical supervisor & other senior medical colleagues on the unit.

Daily/weekly/monthly (if applicable)

Mon: Morning meeting with MDT, followed by ward jobs/ reviews.

Tues: Morning meeting with MDT, followed by ward jobs/ reviews

Wed: Educational/clinical supervision (1 hour/week) at 10 AM, followed by ward jobs/ reviews till 12. Teaching program at Lantern centre, Preston in afternoon.

Thurs: Morning meeting with MDT, followed by ward jobs/ reviews

Fri: Morning meeting with MDT, followed by ward jobs/ reviews
