Interrupted Study October/November 2008
Interrupted Study is a pilot scheme that has been running since 2004. It allows students to take a break from their studies and pick them up in a later presentation. Scores for completed assignments are carried over to the new presentation, ensuring the student can restart their studies at the point they ‘interrupted’. At the end of the course, scores from the original presentation and the new presentation are combined to provide the student with a complete assessment record for their course.
The pilot has been extended to cover some courses presenting in the October and November presentations. These courses are:

In order to apply for Interrupted Study, the student needs to have completed at least one summative assignment and have at least one left to submit.
Students currently registered on this scheme will be notified by email of this option and directed to a booklet on StudentHome. After reading this, if they feel that ‘interrupting’ their studies is appropriate, they are advised to ring their Regional Learner Support Team who will advise them of the implications of their choice, as well explore other options available to the student.
On receipt of the application to the Interrupted Study Office at Walton Hall, the student will be withdrawn from their current presentation and reserved a place on the next presentation. The presentation transfer policy is used to pay course fees on the new presentation and students are expected to make up any difference. In addition all students must pay a £65 administration fee. When the next presentation starts, we write to the students to remind them of their interruption point and will also contact their new tutor to advise they have an interrupted student in their group and of the scores from their previous presentation.
ALs tutoring on courses within the scope of the pilot have been sent further information about interrupted study via their mailboxes.
