Dr. Stanley B. Supinski is the Deputy, Training and Education Branch, Exercise and Training Directorate (J7) of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and US Northern Command. Since taking this position in May, 2003, he has developed the academic training and education program for both commands. He also founded and currently chairs the Homeland Security/Defense Education Consortium.


In April 2003, he retired from the United States Air Force following 27 years of active service. Dr. Supinski served in two capacities during his military career: as an educator with the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) and as an intelligence officer in numerous locations and capacities. As an educator, Dr. Supinski was initially assigned to USAFA in 1991, where he was served as an Instructor of Russian assigned to the Department of Foreign Languages. In 1993 he was selected for doctoral study, and he attended Florida State University, earning his Ph. D. in Instructional Systems Design in 1996. Upon his return to USAFA, he served in Department of Foreign Languages as an Associate Professor of Russian, Chair of the Strategic Languages Division, Director of Instructional Technology, Director of the Language Learning Center, and Director of Operations. For his last military assignment, from 2002 to 2003, he served as the USAFA Dean of Faculty Squadron Commander, where he oversaw faculty personnel, administration, security, and facilities.


As an intelligence officer, Dr. Supinski served primarily in the human intelligence field, managing intelligence collection and conducting operations using his Polish and Russian language skills. His duty assignments include Deputy Commander at Field Operating Base, Korea, Defense Intelligence Agency, from 2001 to 2002; Operations Officer for the European Special Activities Center in Munich Germany, from 1988 to 1991; and as Team Lead and Executive Officer at the Air Force Special Activities Center, Fort Belvoir VA from 1983 to 1987. From December 1999 to May 2000, Dr. Supinski deployed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he served as the Central Air Forces Deputy A2, Joint Task Force, Southwest Asia. He completed his Master’s Degree in National Security Affairs at the US Naval Postgraduate School in 1988, specializing in Russian and Eastern European Studies.


Dr. Supinski has conducted research and has authored numerous articles focusing on homeland security and defense, and technology support to education. He consults on homeland security educational program development nationwide. He also developed the Daily Knowledge Vitamin, a technology-based, distributed learning methodology used to maintain and incrementally increase knowledge and skills. The methodology has been used by military linguists worldwide, and has been adopted by the US Coast Guard and other DoD and civilian organizations.


Dr. Supinski is married to the former Jennifer Sue Wood of Helena Montana. They have two daughters: Erin, who resides in San Diego, and Sara, who attends Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
