Final Landscape Design - LA 104
PURPOSE
To detail and refine the Landscape Design Concept in a format which will allow DPTI to successfully undertake construction and subsequent maintenance activities. (Refer to LA 103 'Landscape Concept Guidelines')
GOAL
The goal of the Final Landscape Design is to provide a constructed landscape / revegetation area which is safe, constructable within budget, at harmony with the environment, meets the needs of the community and is able to be maintained at an acceptable level for a reasonable cost.
DOCUMENTATION
The output of the Final Landscape Design shall be:
Final Summary Report (including specification):
One paper copy, plus copy of electronic file if available*.
Final Landscape Drawings:
One set of inked film drawings, one set of paper prints, plus copy of electronic file if available*.
* It is normally expected that report, drawing and specification information will be available in an electronic format.
GENERAL
The Final Landscape Design is generally a refinement of, and consistent with the Landscape Concept. It shall be presented in a format which allows DPTI to undertake construction and maintenance activities.
The Brief, 'Greenways' Code of Practice, this Guideline and relevant Landscape Guidelines and Technical Notes shall be used as the basis for the Final Landscape Design. References from 'Greenways' are as follows:
Stage 9.0 Develop the Construction Plan
Stage 10.0 Ownership Agreement
FINAL SUMMARY REPORT (including specification)
The Final Landscape Summary Report is an update of the Landscape Concept Summary Report. It shall include (if applicable), but not be limited to, the following:
contents page
the Landscape Plan philosophy, criteria and recommendations
the Landscape Management Plan
the Construction Plan which includes factors which may influence construction and maintenance activities
a final list of plant/direct seeding species
final schedule of quantities for each sheet including, but not limited to the following:
∗ m² of grass ∗ number of plants
∗ m² of mulch ∗ m² of direct seeding
∗ m² of paving ∗ linear metres of edging
∗ m of retaining wall
a combined total of quantities for all sheets
final and accurate Bill of Quantities and Schedule of Rates
a final cost estimate which reflects current market rates and includes all construction and maintenance requirements. The cost estimate should include a full breakdown of cost items and the cost per unit of all materials
Specification consisting of:
∗ all relevant parts of the Master Specification as provided by DPTI
∗ any additional parts or clauses which are design specific.
FINAL LANDSCAPE DRAWINGS
The Final Landscape Drawings shall:
be a refinement of the Landscape Concept Drawings
conform with the specific requirements of the project brief
contain no stick-on labels
generally consist of one set of inked drawings presented on A1 film sheets not less than 3/1000 of an inch thick, or not less than 110 grammes per square metre in weight, one set of paper prints, plus a copy of the electronic file
CADD based drawings, shall be produced in accordance with Electronic Data Transfer Requirements. See LA 105 'Landscape Design Drawing Guidelines'(currently under review).

RESPONSIBILITIES ( when work is carried out by a consultant )
The Consultant shall be responsible for:
Incorporating any comments made about the Landscape Concept by the Principal.
Addressing all critical aspects of the project as set out in the Landscape Concept General Guideline, “Greenways” Code of Practice and the Brief.
Preparing a final report and final drawings which:
∗ reflect the requirements of these guidelines and associated Technical Guidelines
∗ are directly traceable to the Landscape Concept
∗ address the issues in ‘Greenways” Code of Practice, Stages 9 & 10
∗ are in accordance with any mandatory hold points as set out in the Brief.
Presenting the Final Landscape Design to the Principal.
Providing the Principal with a copy of the Final Landscape Design a minimum of one day prior to the above presentation.
Making any amendments to the final report or final drawings which result from:
∗ the examination of the Final Landscape Design (see below).
The Principal shall be responsible for:
examining the Final Landscape Design within ten (10) working days following the Presentation.
