Events: Boys and Girls Singles (160 draw) with a feed-in- consolation and playoffs for 3rd and 4th place. 5th and 6th place to be determined by the winner and finalist of the FIC. Play in the FIC is mandatory. Thirty-two (32) seeds will be block seeded into the third round of the singles tournament. The seeds will begin singles play on the third day of the tournament (Monday, 21Jun04). : Each District of the STA will get additional entrants added to the 128-quota. Of the 32 additional places in the draw, the first 18 will be allotted at 2 per District. The remaining 14 places will be determined by player’s record. Girls and Boys doubles (80 draw).
Doubles: Sign-up must be done via phone, fax, e-mail, or in person at the Richland County Tennis Center. The doubles entries will close on Saturday, 19Jun04 at 6 PM. Doubles will begin Sunday, 20Jun04, as early as 12 noon. Please verify that your doubles entry has been received.
Entry: ONLINE RESISTRATION ONLY.
Eligibility: All entrants must not turn 13 years of age before or during the month of the tournament and must be endorsed by their respective state.
Birth Certificates: All players are required to present a copy of their Birth Certificate to the tournament desk at time of check in.
Medical Release: All players must submit the official medical release form signed by parent or guardian and player at time of check in to be eligible to play. Go to www.southerntennis.com to obtain the official Southern section medical release form. In the search box type in the term medical release form and click go. Click on the medical release form on next page. Print copy.
Draw: The official draw will be made on Thursday, 17Jun04, at the Richland County Tennis Center. The draw will be posted at the Richland County Tennis Center and USTA.com (look-up #704110504).
Playing Time: Check the web site (www.USTA.com look-up #704110504) after 6PM EDST, Thursday 17Jun04. Singles (unseeded players) matches can begin at 9 AM, Saturday, 19Jun04. Singles (seeded players) will begin on Monday 21Jun04. If checked in with the Tournament desk report to your site 30 minutes prior to your match. Seeded players not checked in with the tournament desk report 2 hours prior to match time to main sites (Boys-RCTC & Girls-CRTC).
Seeded Players: If you feel you have a chance to be seeded please check the internet on Thursday, 17Jun04 after 6 PM. Doubles begin Sunday, 20Jun04. Sign up for Doubles-via email, fax, or telephone. Please verify that your doubles entry has been received. Check in 2 hours prior to your scheduled match time at tournament headquarters-Boys-RCTC, Girls-CRTC.
Seeding Committee: Southern Tennis Association/ Southern Endorsers.
Alternates: If you are an alternate, you may check the internet or call (803) 788-3001 on Wednesday, June 16th, after Noon, to find out if you made the draw. If accepted into the draw it is your responsibility to notify the tournament if you do not intend to play.
Registration: Unseeded Players: Friday, 18Jun04 @ Richland County Tennis Center between 10 AM and 4 PM. (Registration Party -Free Hot Dogs and Coke for all players, parents and coaches 12pm-3pm. Music presented by The Coca Cola Company). Doubles registration can be done at this time.
Players Meeting: There is a mandatory players meeting for all unseeded players on Friday, 18Jun04 at 5 PM @ Forest Lake Park, 6820 Wedgefield Rd, 787-5000. Directions will be available.
Parking: Please use our designated parking areas.
Match Play & Scoring Format: Warm-up will be limited to 5 minutes including serves. Deuce Add scoring will be used in all matches. All main draw singles matches will be best of three sets. Set tiebreak will be used at 6 games all. FIC singles matches will use a Match Tiebreak in lieu of a 3rd set. Doubles will use collegiate scoring (8 game pro set) with a Match Tiebreak at 8 all. In the case of inclement weather or other circumstances the referee reserves the right to use modified scoring to expedite matches.
Point Penalty System: The USTA Point Penalty System will be in effect and will be enforced. Proper respect will be shown to all players from opponents as well as spectators.
Balls: The official ball for the Southern 12s is the Dunlop Grand Prix Heavy Duty Tennis Ball.
Coaching: No coaching is permitted unless between 2nd and 3rd set 10 minute break or suspension of play.
National Tournament Endorsers: Endorsers will be present at the Southern12s. Please direct all questions regarding National Tournaments to them and not to the tournament officials.
Awards: Awards will be given to 1st-6th place in singles, 1st-2nd place in doubles and a special sportsmanship award to the deserving boy and girl as voted on by the officials.
Practice courts: Practice courts will be available on 1st come basis. Maps available.
Housing: Please notify the tournament desk of any changes in housing.
Lip Sync Contest and Talent Show: (during the players party Monday night) If you would like to enter the lip sync contest or talent show: 1) provide your own CD, 2) 4 people maximum per group, 3) you must sign up in advance during check in, 4) 5 minutes maximum per act.

If you are coming in on I-26 Eastbound take Exit 107, which is, I-20 East to Florence then Exit 73B I-77 North to Charlotte. The Parklane Road exit is one mile go to the right and the courts are on the left.
IF you are coming in on I- 26 West Bound, Exit 116 (which is I-77 North to Charlotte). Stay on I-77 and take the Decker Blvd. Exit. Go straight at the light and courts will be approximately 4 miles on the right.
If you are coming in on I-20 East Bound, take 73B North to Charlotte. Take the Parklane Road Exit that is about 1 Mile ahead on the right. The courts will be ¾ of a mile on the left.
If you are coming in on I-20 West Bound, take exit 74 (which is highway 1 two notch Road). Go right. After about 1 mile take a right on Parklane Road. The Courts will be one-mile down.
Directions to the Caughman Road Tennis Center (Girl’s Main Site from 19Jun04)
If you are coming in on I-26 North Bound from Charleston, take I-77 north towards Charlotte. Take Garners Ferry Road towards Sumter and drive approx. 3.2 miles to Trotter Road. Turn left. The Caughman Road Tennis center is 1 mile up on the left.
If you are coming in on I-26 South Bound from Spartanburg/Greenville follow I-26 towards Charleston. Take the Garners Ferry Road exit towards Sumter. Drive approx. 3.2 miles to Trotter Road. Turn left. The Caughman Road Tennis Center is 1 mile up on the left.
If you are coming in on I-20 East Bound from Atlanta take I-77 north towards Charlotte. Take the Garners Ferry Road exit. Drive approx. 3.2 miles to Trotter Road. Turn left. The Caughman Road Tennis Center is 1 mile on the left.
If you are coming in on I-20 West Bound from Florence take I-77 south towards Charleston. Take the Garners Ferry Road Exit towards Sumter. Drive approx. 3.2 miles to Trotter Road. Turn left. The Caughman Road Tennis Center is 1 mile on the left.
If you are coming in on I-77 South Bound from Charlotte, stay on I-77 south toward Charleston. Take the Garners Ferry Road exit towards Sumter. Drive 3.2 miles to Trotter Road. Turn left. The Caughman Road Tennis Center is 1 mile on the left.
