“The human right to water entitles everybody to sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible and affordable water for personal and domestic uses.”

Pg. 1 – 8 (short synopsis)

A Water Droplet wakes up in his soft bed, made of clouds, and decides to get down, to see what is happening on the Earth.

First, the little Droplet lands in a dirty River that runs by some village. A lot of garbage floats in the River: plastic bottles, bags, paper boxes, etc. One plastic Bottle says to the Droplet that they are not guilty, because people throw them at the River. The Droplet develops a headache because of the dirty water and the “bath” with the garbage. He finds a patch and ties up his head. Soon, he meets another water drop, muffled up in a green shawl. It is an old Ms. Brown. She tells her story. Ms. Brown fell underground when doing water cycle usual for her. A huge army of toxic chemicals attacked her there, and now she feels completely exhausted. The Droplet complains of his headache. Ms. Brown gives him an advice to go to a special “hospital” for water called “Water Treatment Station”. People built it, because they wanted to have clean water. The Droplet remembers that his Granny also told about that wonderful “hospital”. He visits it. However, instead of getting better, he feels more severe headache, because people do not care about the water quality nowadays. The filters of the “Water Treatment Station” used to work well, but now they were too old and out of use.

Then, the Droplet gets into a dark long channel – it is a tap water pipe. Suddenly, lots of bacterium hit him. Besides, lavatory waters with bad smell pour on him from all the chinks and cracks of the pipe, as the pipe is ramshackle. The water Droplet regrets that he ever comes out of his soft cloud-bed… Finally, it seems he finds an escape.

Now, imagine a little boy who lives in a common village in Armenia. His Mother calls him to come home to have dinner. The boy runs into the house. However, Mother asks him to wash hands before dinner. The boy opens the tap water, and the Droplet plumps down right into the boy’s cupped hands. The boy washes his hands carelessly, without even taking the soap. Then, he drinks some water with his dirty cupped hand.

When the Droplet remembers his adventure in details (I am sure, you also remember it), he become conscious of the risk, though he has not attended a school yet. However, the Droplet returns home with the first sun ray, quite disappointed and discouraged. Now, he has so many things to tell to his Granny.

When he gets home, Granny gets angry because the Droplet returns home very filthy and muddy. She gives him a cup of herb tea, and asks him to go to bed. And what else could the poor woman do?

Conclusion

The adventure of the Water Droplet is a common example of water cycle. Let’s think together in what condition water returns back to the cloud, after visiting our planet. Let’s think and protect water, our planet and us.
