Brian Hensel presented the item.


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 101-2018-1) to Calumet Refining, Great Falls, MT, for 500 tons of emulsified asphalt CRS-2P at $455.25/ton for a total of $227,625 and authorize return of bid bonds


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 103-2018-3) to both Knife River of Missoula, MT, for 2,000 tons of hot mix asphalt (grade "B") at $51.82/ton for a total of $ 103,640 and authorize return of bid bonds.


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 104-2018-4) of sand surfacing to Western Excavating of Missoula, MT, for 4,000 tons of sand surfacing at $16.00/ton for a total of $64,000 and authorize return of bid bonds.


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 105-2018-5) to Knife River of Missoula, MT, for 4,000 tons 3/8" Seal Coat Aggregate at $34.18/ton for a total of $136,720and authorize return of bid bonds.


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 106-2018-6) to Knife River of Missoula, MT, for 3,000 tons of driveway-grade asphalt at $56.82/ton for a total of $170,460 and authorize return of bid bonds.


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 107-2018-7) to Knife River of Missoula, MT, for 1,000 tons of hot mix asphalt (Grade “D”) asphalt at $51.82/ton for a total of $51,820 and authorize return of bid bonds.


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 108-2018-8) to Western Excavating of Missoula, MT, for 1,000 tons of drain aggregate at $30.00/ton for a total of $30,000 and authorize return of bid bonds.


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 109-2018-9) to Knife River of Missoula, MT, for 500 tons of 1/2" Seal Coat Aggregate at $39.18/ton for a total of $19,590 and authorize return of bid bonds.


John DiBari moved to award the bid for road maintenance materials (Project 110-2018-10) to Knife River of Missoula, MT, for 200 tons of 1/2” sand surfacing at $14.18/ton for a total of $ 2,836 and authorize return of bid bonds. .



Brian Hensel noted that the Bid table is an estimate of what the Street Department might be using/spending, but the contract has the actual cost and amount of material. John DiBari asked how the total expenditure is determined. Brian Hensel noted that the budget and gas tax fund help determine, but the budget is the best place to look for what the expenditures will be.

Bid Award for 4th, Howell, 2nd Street Water Main Replacement Projects --John Wilson

History


John Wilson presented the item.

Bryan von Lossberg moved to approve and authorize the Mayor to sign a contract with Western Excavating Inc. of Missoula, MT, for construction services on the 4th, Howell, 2nd Street water main replacement project for an amount not to exceed $870,986.90, and authorize the return of bid bonds.

John DiBari asked if it was customary to hire another engineering firm to review the bid. John Wilson noted that Territorial Landworks, Inc, is their consultant for design duties, they are managing the project and are responsible for managing, compiling, and reviewing bids.

Gwen Jones noted that the Office of Neighborhoods has a good database of the neighborhood to get the word out on this and other construction in the Riverfront neighborhood.

Heather Harp asked how long the project would take. John Wilson noted that all three projects should be wrapped up by July 1st.
