Application and admission process |
International coordinators should send the names of nominated students to the UCU exchange officer by February 15, 2015 and by September 15, 2015 respectively. Students can apply on-line in the electronic Embark-system after being nominated by their home university at: https://apply.embark.com/ugrad/utrecht/11/ UCU will review all applications on capabilities to study at UCU. Once students are accepted at UCU, they will be informed by the UCU Admissions Office. |

Incoming exchange students are allowed to participate in UCU summer programs (month of June); UCU in Africa (July and August after spring semester, deadline for applicants November 15) and in the CHIP internships (Humanities course). Language requirements for non-native English speakers |
An advanced level of English language proficiency is required, as all courses at UCU are linguistically demanding. - TOEFL: minimum score 94, with at least 26 in ‘speaking’ and at least 24 in ‘writing’ - IELTS: 7.0, with at least 7.0 in each of the four components - Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): grade A - Cambridge Certificate of proficiency in English (CPE): grade C |

Each incoming exchange-student has a tutor at UCU, for all academic advice. Minimum academic performance requirement: an average GPA of 3.0 on a 1.0-4.0 scale (see UCU transcript supplement rules) |

Housing assistance
|
It is mandatory for all incoming exchange students to live on UCU campus, and to participate in the meal plan offered by Dining Hall. A housing questionnaire is included in the acceptance package, sent by the Admission Office. |
Housing options
|
Students live in a unit with 6 to 12 other Dutch and international students. Every student gets a single room. There are some double rooms available (with a discount in costs). Students share a bathroom with their housemates. There is a shared living room. All units have a kitchenette where students can prepare simple meals (a hotplate, a microwave, coffeemaker and refrigerator). Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the Dining Hall. |

Costs of room and board and total costs per semester
|
Room and board for one semester: € 4017. Students will automatically receive an invoice for this amount. Total estimated costs per semester: € 6.000 for EEA students and € 6.300 for non EEA students.

€ 200 acceptance down payment two weeks after being admitted at UCU. Student Union UCSA € 36,25 per semester. |
Student jobs available/allowed?

No jobs available. Students are discouraged from seeking jobs elsewhere, as the academic program is heavy |
It is mandatory for students to have a health insurance that covers all health costs in the Netherlands. If the insurance of the home country doesn’t have coverage of all costs, then students have to apply through the website www.uu.nl/internationalstudents for a so called AON or Hollandzorg insurance |

No health facilties on campus, but a list with general practitioners and dentists is available. |
