For each individual Dispensing Doctor practice we would like to request monthly usage data (units and NIC) on the following product SKU’s  for the last 12 months under FOI. Could we please ask for the data to be presented in an excel spreadsheet showing the names and addresses of the individual Dispensing Doctor practices. Many thanks.

Officials have now reviewed your request and have advised that the product information you request falls under our normal charging policy. Under this policy the charge for this information would be £120.00 plus vat for each month’s data which you require. A copy of our charging policy is attached for your information.

I would also point out that should you decide to proceed with your request under our charging arrangements, the BSO is unable to release all of the information which you request as some dispensing doctors practices are single-handed, and individual GP level dispensing data, under the freedom of information act, is deemed to be Personal Information (Section 40). Also, dispensing doctor practices will have patients who are both dispensing patients and patients who have prescriptions dispensed in a community pharmacy and therefore further clarification would be required on which element of the prescribing is being requested.
