Oaks Picnic Area: Day Use only.

West Fork Road: Access for people with disabilities is available by permit at the San Gabriel River Ranger District located in Glendora. Glenn Camp has three sites available for people with disabilities.


ROADS: (July 4th Holiday closure…Close GMR/GRR Tuesday 10 a.m. Open Thursday 10 a.m.)

Highway 39: Open to Crystal Lake Road junction (mm 38.13).

Crystal Lake Road: Open

East Fork Road: Open

Glendora Mtn Road: Open

Glendora Ridge Road: Open

Mt. Baldy Road: Open.



OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE AREAS & ROUTES:

Registration and Forest Service approved spark arrestors are required. ATV and dirt bike riders must wear a helmet. ATV riders under age of 18 must complete a safety course. All vehicles must meet local, State and Federal laws.

No Alcoholic beverages are allowed.


Areas may be closed at any time due to unsafe conditions caused by storms, fire danger or excessive use capacity.


San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area: Saturday/Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All vehicles must exit the area by 4:30 p.m.. FEES: $8 for the Primary vehicle and $5 for each additional vehicle.






SAN GABRIEL RIVER RANGER DISTRICT (SGRRD) continued:


Rincon/Shortcut OHV Route: Rincon & Shortcut Roads are CLOSED to Motor Vehicles until further notice. Bicyclists and hikers allowed on the Rincon Road without permit.


Restricted vehicle access: 4x4, Pick-up, Jeep, and red/green sticker vehicles (atv, dirt bikes, etc.). Special permit with a combination may be obtained at the District Office & Gateway (located north of Azusa). Provide current Driver’s license and Vehicle registration.


Vehicles entering and exiting at night must have functional head lamps and tail lights. Vehicles parked along the route must display an Adventure Pass.


CAMPGROUNDS: First-come, first-served. No reservations.

Coldbrook Campground (mm 32.18): Open. No drinkable water. $12 per site for one vehicle and $5 for second vehicle. Vault toilets. Stream water available…must be treated before drinking. Fire in the fire ring (bring your own wood) and charcoal in the grill provided by the Forest Service.


Crystal Lake Campground (mm 38.13): Open 7 days a week for limited overnight camping and Day-Use.


Gate access is between 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.


Cost: (Fee tube w/fee envelopes is located to the closed gate next to the Visitor Center.)

Day Use: Fee is $5 per vehicle. Adventure Pass will be accepted.


Overnight Camping: Fee is $12 for the first vehicle and $5 for the second vehicle per site. A $2 discount on the first vehicle if you have an Annual AP. A 50% discount for the first vehicle if you have a Golden Passport or an America the Beautiful pass (Senior or Access).


Visitor Center may be open weekends when volunteers are available.

Crystal Lake Store hours are 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Closed Monday. Open on major holidays.


Overnight camping is first-come, first-served and is limited to 36 sites in Loops A and B. Maximum 8 people per site. Fire is allowed in the fire ring (bring your own wood) and charcoal in the grill provided by the Forest Service.


Fawnskin Picnic Area: Day Use only. Charcoal only in the grills provided by the Forest Service. No wood fires.


Lake is accessible by vehicle or 1 mile hike-in from campground. Fishing license required. NO Swimming.


Glenn Trail Camp: Open. Ten sites available. Three sites are accessible to people with disabilities. 7 mile access by hike-in or bicycle. Vehicle access with permit for people with disabilities. Pit toilets and stream water available. Fire in the fire ring and charcoal in the grill located at the site. Campfire permit is required.


Manker Flats Campground: Open. $12 first vehicle and $5 second vehicle. Running water and flush toilets. Fire in the fire ring and charcoal in the grill. Bring your own wood.

RIVERS and STREAMS:

FISHING:

A valid California fishing license is required. For stocking information, contact the California State Fish and Game Department at (562) 594-7268.


West Fork: Only artificial flies or lures with a single barbless hook may be used in the

West Fork and its tributaries. From the second crossing up it is “Catch and Release” only.


East Fork / North Fork / San Antonio River: Open

San Gabriel Dam: North shoreline only.

Crystal Lake: Open. Vehicle accessible. Hike-in 1 mile from campground. NO swimming.


TARGET SHOOTING:

Burro Canyon Shooting Park: Thursday through Monday, from 9 am to 4 pm. For further information call (626) 910-1344.


PICNIC AREAS:

The Oaks: 14 group picnic sites for Day-Use Only. No camping. Restrooms are available. Charcoal allowed in the grills provided. No wood fires. Propane and pressurized gas grills or camp stoves are allowed. An Adventure Pass or Interagency Passport is required.


Fawnskin Picnic Area (CLRA): Day Use only. Charcoal only in the grills provided by the Forest Service. No wood fires.


HIKING TRAILS:

GENERAL INFORMATION: For safety reasons, hiking trails are not recommended for equestrian or bicycle travel.


Mt. Baldy trails and peak: Open.


Cucamonga Wilderness trails: Open. Wilderness Permit required.

Icehouse Canyon: Open. Wilderness Permit required.


Bridge to Nowhere (Sheep Mountain Wilderness): Open. Wilderness Permit required. Water level is currently 1-2 feet deep at the lowest point. Numerous river crossings. Water running moderately fast/cold.


West Fork Road and Bear Creek trails: Open

Upper Bear Creek Trail (off Hwy 39): 5.5 miles one-way to Bear Creek.

Lower Bear Creek Trail (off the West Fork): 1 mile to the trailhead.


Crystal Lake Area trails: Open.
