Defines the reasons for applying for a Variation Order and explains how the variation will enable the achievement of corporate strategies and objectives.
This should include; Why it is necessary to vary national terms and conditions including an outline of the circumstances surrounding the issue and the frequency of the issue. Details of any local recruitment and retention problems, geographical factors or service reconfiguration issues.

This should include;

This should include;
Details of all financial implications and confirmation that provision has been made to cover any additional costs from within the existing allocation. Confirmation that legal advice has been sought. If this is not the case an outline of the circumstances surrounding this.

Wider Appraisal
Provide a summary of the likely impact of the variation on staff group’s colleagues, other staff groups and NHSScotland.
