Two Gluon Fusion in Exclusive Meson Production in Proton-Proton Collisions

Abstract:

We present a consistent microscopic calculation of the exclusive production of light mesons (with masses up to 1 GeV) in a basically nonrelativistic two gluon exchange model. We formulate the mesons and the interacting baryons as quark-antiquark and quark – diquark systems, respectively: The wavefunctions and further parameters of the model are taken from Resonating Group calculations. We compare the predictations of the model with current results from meson-exchange calculations.

Light-Cone Approach to the ss(bar) Content of the Proton

Abstract:

We investigate the the admixture of heavy quark flavours, particularly of ss(bar) sea quarks, to the light 3 - quark structure of the proton. For a frame independent predicition we calculate in the impulse approximation the sea quark admixture on the Light Cone (infinite momentum frame). The covariant analytical 3 – quark ground state wave function of the proton on the LC includes in the kernel contributions from one (and two) gluon exchange together with an harmonic confinement. We point out tests of our model predictions in hidden stangeness production with hadronic probes.

Heavy Flavour Production in Exclusive Hadronic Processes

Abstract:

In a Fock decomosition of the proton we include to the ground state leading corrections from the excitation of heavy ss(bar), cc(bar) and bb(bar) compontents to the light uud ground state of the proton. In perturbative QCD the admixture is caclulated from one-gluon exchange in the infinite momentum frame, to supress spurious contributions from the vacuum. Compared are different parametrizations for the light – cone wave function of the 3 – quark proton ground state and their implications for selective processes with (electromagnetic and) hadronic probes.

Multigluon Exchange Currents in Light – Heavy (Strange,Charmed and Beauty) Mesons.

Abstract:

We investigate the dynamcis of mesons with a light (u,d) and a heavy (s,c,b) quark in a covariant Quasipotential approach in the heavy mass limit. We imporve the interaction kernel systematically, by including in a (quasi) analytical form all irreducible coordinate space contributions up to (3) and for noninteracting gluons up to (8) in the running coupling constant. For a convergent expansion we resum the perturbation theory by onondiagonal Pade’ approximants. We discuss the role of the infrared behaviour of (q**2) and implications for the spectra of strange, charmed and beauty mesons.
