Happy New Year!
We trust everyone enjoyed the holiday break and had a wonderful time with family and friends.
We are now in the second half of the Rotary Year with lots to do and lots of opportunities to serve, so let’s get busy and do it!
The Chronicle has been missing for the past couple of weeks due to the holiday and your Editor’s trip off island, but will return to its usual format next week. For today, here are a few important things we need to know to start off the New Year.

January Birthdays: Sasha Castle (5th), David Thompson (10th), Alan Pailing (12th), Lisa Wagner (22nd), Beverley Sgobba (27th)
January Anniversaries: none all month

ANNOUNCEMENTS & NEWS:
Raffle Tickets for Our Children’s Fair: Just before the holiday, Barbara Edwards distributed our allotment of tickets to sell. They are sought after, so all we need to do is get out there and let folks know we have them. Great prizes, great cause, so let’s just do it! Our annual Children’s Fair is March 6th 2010, and that’s really not that far away when you stop and think about it!
Our Joker Raffle: This exciting weekly activity continues into the New Year with a growing pot and a dwindling number of cards left in the deck, so the excitement is building. Remember that the club was polled before the holiday and the majority agreed that the purchase of tickets would be restricted to members only to be fair to all concerned. So the ticket drawn each week is for a chance to draw the joker; there are no other prizes.
Heyden Trust Groundskeeping: This popular, hands-on activity will continue in the New Year so watch for more opportunities to volunteer. Alan Pailing and Sasha Castle will be letting us know times and dates.
Prepay and Save: Treasurer Maurice Darlington sent out an e-mail reminding members that those who wish to prepay can do so for a reduced meal rate. This quarter (Jan to Mar) amounts to $204.00. Either make a direct deposit to our account at Bank of Bermuda #010-026383-001 or pay by cash or cheque on Thursday mornings. Maurice would appreciate if this could be settled in the first 3 weeks of January.
