P rospect Elementary School’s Library Policy
Dear Parents,
Reading is an important part of your child’s education. In order to preserve our library resources for your child and future students, please review the following guidelines with your child.
Students go to the library with their classes to check out and return library books on the same day each week. Books are checked out for one week and are due back on the same day the following week.
Students who do not finish reading their library books must bring them back to the library each week to renew them until they finish reading them.
Select a special place at home to store library books so you can always find them to return on time.
Students who do not return their library books the following week will not be allowed to check out other books.
Students receive one free zipper-style plastic bag to store their library books in before putting them in backpacks. This prevents water damage to the books from rain and from water bottles that may leak or sweat on them.
Always handle library books with clean hands.
Use bookmarks to keep your place. Using pencils or markers, or placing an open book face down to keep your place will damage its spine and cause loose pages. Never turn down or dog-ear a page.
