NOTICE OF EXCHANGE PROPOSAL
LAND-FOR-LAND EXCHANGE
ELDORADO NATIONAL FOREST
Notice is hereby given that the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service (FS), is considering an exchange of land with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, under the authority of the General Exchange Act of 3/20/1922 (16 U.S.C. 485, 486), the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 10/21/1976 (43 U.S.C. 1716), and the Federal Land Exchange Facilitation Act of 8/20/1988 (43 U.S.C. 1716(note)).
The lands under the jurisdiction of the FS that are being considered for exchange are described as:
Eldorado National Forest, Mount Diablo Meridian, El Dorado County, California
T. 11 N., R. 11 E.
Sec. 25: NE1/4NE1/4 (por.), NE1/4SW1/4, NW1/4SE1/4, E1/2SE1/4
T. 11 N., R. 12 E.
Sec. 19: SE1/4SW1/4, SW1/4SE1/4
Sec. 30: Lots 1 and 2, E1/2NW1/4, S1/2NE1/4
Containing 434.32 acres, more or less.
The non-Federal lands are described as:
Eldorado National Forest, Mount Diablo Meridian, El Dorado County, California
T. 14 N., R. 14 E.
Sec. 35: S1/2 (por.)
Sec. 36: N1/2SW1/4, NW1/4SE1/4
Containing 325.02 acres, more or less.
Any or all of the above-described lands may be exchanged. If the values are unequal, either party may equalize the values by making a cash payment, not to exceed 25% of the value of the lands transferred out of Federal ownership.
The Forest Service will formally evaluate this exchange proposal through the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) procedures, which includes public involvement. A decision to complete the exchange will need to be based on overall public benefits.
The Forest Service proposes to acquire land with floodplains associated with Gerle Creek, Barts Creek, and an unnamed creek. The Forest Service proposes to exchange lands with floodplains associated with Iowa Creek, South Fork American River, and unnamed seasonal streams.
The Federal lands have been segregated from appropriation under the public land laws and mineral laws for a period not to exceed 5 years from the date of the publication of this notice.
Persons claiming such properties, or having knowledge of claims, liens, or encumbrances affecting the lands proposed for exchange, or having valid objections to this proposed exchange must file their claims or objections or notice of other matters in writing with Laurence Crabtree, Forest Supervisor, Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, 100 Forni Road, Placerville, CA 95667, within 45 days after the initial date of publication of this notice.
