Submission Guidelines Café Flicker
Cafe Flicker is Glasgow’s monthly ‘open screen’ for short films and has been at the heart of supporting independent filmmakers in Scotland for over 20 years. It’s an opportunity for independent filmmakers to showcase their work on the big screen, discuss it with others, network and develop contacts for their next project.
There are no restrictions on who may submit a film to the program and submissions can be made at any time.
Submitted films should be no longer than 15 minutes in length. (Films exceeding 15 minutes in length may be programmed at the discretion of GMAC Film)
Film submissions will be added to the program on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, please submit early to avoid disappointment.
Only one film may be submitted per person per month, though you may be involved in multiple films. The submitter should typically be the director, writer or producer.
Only the submitting filmmaker and a plus one will receive free entry.
The submitting filmmaker must be present at Cafe Flicker on the screening night and prepared to take part in a short Q&A session following their film.
If the submitting filmmaker is not present on the screening night their film will be removed from the program.
You should submit your film as a digital video file. Video files are recommended to be in MP4 video compression and, as a minimum, in a H.264 codec, 1280 x 720 resolution at a 5000 Kbps/5Mbps data rate and 192 Kbps stereo audio.
Submit your video file using WeTransfer (https://www.wetransfer.com/) and upload the video file together with a completed submission form to [email protected].
All films will be previewed and GMAC Film reserves the right to censor any material that may be considered inappropriate.
With the filmmakers’ permission films that screen at Café Flicker may be uploaded to the GMAC Film Vimeo page (https://vimeo.com/gmacfilm).
