PROTECTION AND PERMANENCY TRANSMITTAL LETTER, PPTL-09-04
TO: Service Region Administrators
Service Region Administrator Associates
Service Region Clinical Associates
Regional Program Specialists
Family Services Office Supervisors
FROM: Mike Cheek, Director
Division of Protection and Permanency
DATE: February 16, 2009
SUBJECT: Revisions to Foster Parent Liability Insurance
The purpose of this transmittal letter is to notify staff of revisions made to the Foster Parent Liability Insurance SOP. Due to budget constraints, DCBS will no longer carry liability insurance on foster homes when they have children placed in their home; however, foster parent’s damage claims will still be processed. Instead of the Cabinet carrying liability insurance on each home that has a placement, foster parents will now submit damage claims to their R&C worker and a special expense memo will be submitted, with appropriate documentation to the Director of the Division of Administration and Financial Management (DAFM). SOP 3B.12 has been created to replace the former policy, SOP 3A.11 in order to address this matter.
This
revision will be effective March 1, 2009 and will supersede all
previously issued policy regarding these topics. The SOP is
available on the SOP Manual website and will remain in red
font and strikethroughs
until the effective date. If you have any questions concerning this
transmittal letter, please contact Sarah Cooper via e-mail at
