TEXAS TECH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

BOARD MEMBER AGREEMENT

To cultivate loyalty, tradition, service and lifelong relationships”

As a Texas Tech Alumni Association Board Member, I am dedicated to the Association’s mission and pledge to carry out the Association’s mission. I understand my duties and responsibilities include the following:

  1. I am responsible, with other Board Members, for overseeing the Association’s fiscal soundness. I will take time to understand the Association’s budget and take an active part in reviewing, approving and monitoring the budget and fund-raising requirements to meet it.

  1. I accept the Association’s Bylaws and policies and understand I am accountable for the health and well-being of the Association.

  1. I will actively promote the Association within my sphere of influence, including recruitment of 10 new members annually while on the Board.

  1. I will give what is for me a substantial financial or in-kind donation. I may give this as a one-time donation each year, or I may pledge to give a certain amount at various times during the year. Additionally, I understand that it is my duty to give my financial support to special fundraising projects, such as building expansions.

  1. I will actively participate in the Associations fundraising events, programs and activities, and may include individual solicitation or implementing fund raising strategies through personal influence with others.

  1. I will regularly attend Board meetings. When business or family priorities prevent attendance at a Board meeting, I agree to send a personal note of explanation to the President.

  1. I will be well-informed and prepared for Board meetings and participate actively and constructively in Board deliberations.

  1. I will review the minutes of any missed Board meeting and be knowledgeable about decisions made in my absence.

  1. I will recommend at least one new potential Board member per year.

  1. I will use best efforts to attend local chapter-sponsored functions in the city where I reside.

  1. I will honorably represent the Association to Texas Tech University, its administrators, faculty, students and alumni, and contribute to the promotion of the Association.

  1. I will listen respectfully to other viewpoints. I recognize it is important minority viewpoints are given a full hearing; but I also recognize it is equally important majority rule prevails and each Board member in the minority support the majority Board decision once a vote is recorded.

  1. I will encourage and support the Association’s staff.

  1. I understand my participation and input are important to the Association. I will attend board and committee meetings, be available for phone consultation, and actively serve on at least one Association committee. I understand consistent non-attendance at Board meetings is grounds for removal from the Board or considered a resignation.

  1. I agree to carry out the foregoing agreements to the best of my ability.
