Cross Border Fabric Shipment Alert - Steelcase Dealer to Purchase Own Material

Special consideration is being given to your dealership to purchase your own material for your Steelcase order, assuming you provide all the required documentation. However, there are several important considerations to take into account:

This transaction is outside our normal and approved manufacturing process and there is increased risk and responsibility for your dealership.
This process is more time consuming, with greater than standard lead-times, requiring additional weeks for order acknowledgement and product manufacture.
Your dealership assumes considerable risk due to the complex Customs requirements for fabric shipping cross-border.
Your dealership will be charged duty fees on the fabric value that is assessed by Customs.
Your dealership must send the required yardage indicated on the label you received from Steelcase. Any excess fabric will not be returned to the U.S.
As Exporter of Record, your dealership must provide the following:

Import Description for Fabrics
Packing list
Bill of lading
Customs invoice
Customs brokerage services
Two hours before this shipment is scheduled to leave your dealership, you must provide all required documents to your freight forwarder

Your order cannot be shipped unless the Import Description for Fabrics form provided below is filled out completely and accurately. Contact the fabric mill who can provide the required information for this form.
