SUBJECT: Self-Published Text Adoption
PURPOSE: Establishes guidelines for use and sale of self-published texts.
REGULATION: A self-published text will be reviewed by the department chair and/or
supervisor before it is adopted for use in a credit class.
CONDITIONS:
All self-published texts will be sold in the College Bookstore.
The department chair and/or supervisor will examine the text prior to adoption to determine text quality and copyright compliance.
The department chair and/or supervisor and the instructor will establish a market price which insures that the instructor recovers production costs and makes a reasonable profit.
All self-published text adoptions must also comply with the Textbook Adoption Regulation Standard.
This standard does not apply to instructor authored texts that are published through an academic publisher. These texts are covered by the Textbook Adoption standard.
PROCEDURES:
The instructor who wishes to use a self-published text will fill out the following form and submit it with the textbook order.
Instructors will make an effort to place one copy of their self-published text on reserve in the Library or department office.
