ExSC 8124
ANSI ExSC Interpretation:
Discussion of Balance within an interest category (2008)
The ExSC was asked to review ANSI’s definition of consensus and the degree to which it is necessary to have consensus among participants in a single interest category. The ExSC has stated previously and reiterated its position that the ANSI Essential Requirements do not and should not require consensus within an interest category. The ExSC further noted that the current language related to openness, lack of dominance, balance, interest classifications and appeals provides sufficient safeguards to ensure due process with regard to all interests.
