Collaborative management software hosted through eRoom Technology, Inc. provided an information-sharing network for coordination and communication between federal and state agencies involved in the Churchill County Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Investigation. The eRoom.net digital workplace allowed the agencies that were dispersed in location but wishing to share information, discuss findings, and make decisions, to do so in a private and secured environment.

The Nevada Leukemia Cluster Investigation eRoom was designed to provide each federal and state agency with its own work area accessible by designated staff only. A common work area for meeting notes and discussions was set up and accessible to all designated investigation eRoom members. A Data Interpretation Group (DIG) was formed from federal and state agency experts to review the environmental data collected as part of CDC’s cross-sectional exposure assessment and pathways study reports from ATSDR. A Data Interpretation Group work area was set up within eRoom. All environmental data sets and pathways study reports were posted in the DIG e-room. Data sets and reports were reviewed by members of the DIG, who posted their comments in eRoom for discussion on conference calls. Comments on environmental data sets were incorporated into reports to the state. Comments about the pathways study reports were incorporated into those reports. In all, eleven environmental data sets and five pathways reports were reviewed. The Nevada Leukemia Cluster Investigation eRoom was closed on October 17, 2002.
