Toronto, ON (Sept 25, 2006) – Torontonians can shop at a myriad of home decor destinations – some traditionally opened only to the trade – and participate in this city’s Exclusive Access Sale – all part of the annual Home + Style Studio Tour and Sale to raise funds and awareness for the Toronto People with AIDS Foundation (PWA).
October 21 and October 22nd marks a weekend of studio and retail shopping from Toronto to Burlington, celebrity talks & live demonstrations; and one-on-one discussions with the city’s best and brightest artists, award-winning designers and home décor professionals. Furniture, appliances and accessories from designer model suites and various retailers including Decorium, will all be in one convenient location. Arrive early for the best deals!
“The Home + Style Studio Tour is a city-wide celebration of art and design for a very worthy cause. Each year it continues to grow and now our website is used all year-round as a portal for everything Home + Style”, says Jeffrey Stolberg, Founder and Event Presenter.
For the first time this year the Home + Style Studio Tour embraces the GTA and extends into Burlington. Artist Walk at Village Square 423 Elizabeth Street, Burlington, ON is a new co-operative gallery in downtown Burlington, featuring the diverse works of over 40 local artists. Painting, pottery, fine-art photography, textiles and sculpture are featured. Visitors will be able to see live demonstrations by the various artists.
Indigo Books & Music Inc. stores in the Greater Toronto Area will be donating a portion of their proceeds from sales made at participating store locations to PWA when customers mention that they are Home + Style Studio Tour supporters during the event on October 21 and 22, 2006. “We are committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate”, says Jeremy Cammy, Director, National Events, Indigo Books & Music, Inc.
Demonstrations are also available by artists Tanya Kirouac of Drip Studio; and Susan Wallis of Melt Studio. Each artist has developed a very unique approach to this historical technique and application of melting wax and pigment together. This procedure of applying molten, coloured wax to various surfaces creates depth and dimension to the artwork.
Participants can enter several free contests, including one to win a two-night stay at The Fairmont Royal York with fine dining and spa. Enter online at www.studiotouronline.com .
