CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS PRESENTATION
Read the following sections of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (CCRF) and summarize the meaning of the section in your own words. Then, examine the Court decision referenced in Column C and summarize what the Court interprets that section of the CCRF to mean.
Note: Students will be assigned individual sections of the Charter and will be responsible for presenting their findings to the class. In their presentations, students should be sure to do the following:
Summarize the content of the section
Highlight the legal significance of the section in question. What is its intent?
Provide a brief overview of the jurisprudence pertaining to the section of the CCRF in question. How have the courts interpreted the section and how have they applied it to the law?
In your opinion, have the courts been faithful to the section? Why? Why not?
EVALUATION: Please see the attached mark sheet. Students will present for no more than 15 minutes.
