POST: Senior Philanthropy and Trust Fundraiser

SALARY: Starting at £26,727 with progression to £31,326 per
annum

GENERAL PURPOSE
The post holder will be a member of the Philanthropy and Trusts fundraising team and will be responsible for:
Actively seeking philanthropic support for Children 1st’s work to support vulnerable children and families in Scotland
Developing and submitting compelling, relevant funding applications to Charitable Trusts and potential donors
Delivering consistently high quality account management through administration, development and stewardship of a portfolio of high value Trust funders and individuals
Assisting with implementing a Trust and Major Donor strategy and associated campaign(s), with a view to securing high value gifts in support of Children 1st.
KEY TASKS
Account manage long-term strategic, mutually beneficial relationships with major gift supporters to raise funds towards our work
Develop, produce and submit compelling funding applications ensuring Trusts and individuals are approached timeously to maximise income
Prepare and submit relevant, timely and appropriate feedback reports to Trusts and philanthropists on schedule
Work across the organisation, particularly with Children and Family Services and Finance to develop relevant funding applications
Undertake research to identify prospects and create and implement donor plans to generate income
Work closely with fundraising colleagues, in particular individual giving, corporate and community fundraising, to maximise our collective opportunities for growth
Deliver effective and engaging stewardship of donors including site visits, invitations to key events and any other cultivation opportunities as appropriate
Maintain the fundraising database to ensure this is up to date and accurate with key contacts and other information for major donors and Trusts
To work closely alongside the Trusts Fundraiser to share information and knowledge which will help develop our donor offer
To report to the Head of Philanthropy and Trusts, providing regular verbal and written reports
Stay appropriately networked and keep abreast of trends, news, events and deadlines so that all possible new or enhanced funding opportunities are exploited, including regular engagement with Institute of Fundraising Special Interest Groups and events
Research and be aware of trends within the landscape, suggesting improvements or enhancements to working practice where identified
Keep informed of any legislative or regulatory changes which impact on Trust and major gift fundraising, taking effective action when necessary.
